To help us manage and index all photos:

  • All Entries must be in JPEG or JPG format and at least 1600 pixels wide or 1600 pixels tall
  • image file size no bigger than 5mb (five megabytes)
  • they should not be zipped

Tip: very long (panoramic) or very tall photos are discouraged as they don’t suit the layout of this website.

IMPORTANT: To help us manage and index entries, please name the image files using the following system:

Surname-Initials-description
(surname hyphen initial/s hyphen description)

For example, if your name was J C Brown and your description was Le Roys Bush Waterfall, the file name should look something like brown-jc-le-roys-bush-waterfall.jpg

NOT something like this:
00221923-D491-4E48-BF76-3C7646A44AC5.jpeg
or IMG_4322016.jpg

Why is this important?
We receive more than 200 photos, and it is much easier for the judges to identify photos and compare notes of photos that are easily identifiable.

It is also possible that two devices will issue the same file name, so for these reasons alone, the file name must meet the criteria set out above.

If your photo is a winner, we may then ask you for the highest resolution version that you have.
